VAPA participates in Street Piano Festival-- Visual Arts Decorates

The "Play Me, I'm Yours" (http://streetpianos.com/la2012/) piano has arrived! Beginning April 12, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra brings Play Me, I’m Yours to Los Angeles.  We are very proud to serve as the location for one of the 30 pianos, designed and decorated by local artists and community organizations, to be featured across Los Angeles County. Everyone is invited to play the piano, in celebration of acclaimed conductor and pianist Jeffrey Kahane’s 15th anniversary as LACO music director.

 

The VAPA piano is located in front of the main stairs on Cesar Chavez Blvd. It was decorated by Visual Arts Academy students Mynor Chinchilla, Jackson Beyda, Alexandra Pedraza, Misouri Alatorre, and Nehemiah Harris. The theme for their piano was rainbow vs life and death. We have discovered many musical talents having a piano around. Wont you come and share yours? Tuesday: Double-Advisory Schedule: Advisory, then Periods 1-8, then brief Advisory at the end of the day.
Wednesday: Special Day Schedule with Advisory (Advisory, then Periods 1-8)
Thursday: Periods 1-4
Friday: Periods 5-8

New Humanitas Program: English and AP World History

A new rigorous academic program geared towards highly motivated and gifted 9th grade students desiring to go to the most prestigious universities in the nation. All prospective 9th grade students in high academic standing who are ready for a challenge are welcome to attend. An assessment at the end of the Summer Bridge Program will determine eligibility.
